After configuring your preferences, click the Create File button to submit your data download request. Facebook will display a confirmation message indicating that your request is being processed. The time required to compile your archive depends on how much data you have and how many categories you selected. For accounts with years of activity, the process can take anywhere from a few hours to several days. Facebook will send you a notification both in the app and via email when your archive is ready for download. When your archive is ready, return to the Download Your Information page and click the Download button next to your completed archive. You may need to re-enter your password for security verification. The archive will download as one or more ZIP files depending on its size.
