Threads by Meta is directly linked to your Instagram account, which creates a unique challenge when trying to delete it. Originally, deleting Threads required deleting your Instagram account as well, but Meta has since introduced the ability to delete your Threads profile independently. However, the process and available options may vary depending on your region and the current version of the app. Before proceeding, make sure your Threads and Instagram apps are updated to the latest version to access the most current deletion options. Understanding this relationship is crucial because any action you take on Threads could potentially affect your Instagram presence. Check the Threads settings carefully to confirm that independent deletion is available in your region.
Before deleting your Threads account, download a copy of your data. Open the Threads app and go to your profile by tapping the profile icon at the bottom right. Tap the two-line menu icon at the top right, then select Account. Look for the Download Your Information or Your Information option. Follow the prompts to request a data download.
