All of this data is linked to your Facebook identity and used across Meta's advertising platform. From a features perspective, Messenger is undeniably more feature-rich. It offers games, stories, business integrations, payments, AR effects, chatbots, and deep integration with Facebook and Instagram. Signal focuses on core communication features: text, voice, video, groups, file sharing, and stories. For most users, Signal's feature set covers all essential communication needs without the bloat. Ease of use favors Messenger only because of its existing user base and integration with Facebook. If your social circle is on Facebook, Messenger requires no additional setup. Signal requires a separate installation and convincing contacts to join, which remains its biggest adoption hurdle. However, Signal's interface is cleaner and faster than Messenger's increasingly cluttered design. Signal is the unequivocal winner here. The privacy gap between these two apps is enormous.
