Before switching, ensure you have a recent encrypted backup. Go to Settings > Chats > Backup and run a manual backup. Verify the backup completed successfully and note the date.
Locate your recovery phrase — you saved this when first enabling backups. You will need it to restore on your new device. If you cannot find it, create a new backup with a new phrase before switching.
Download WeTalkin from the App Store or Google Play on your new phone. Open the app and select "I have an account" during setup.
Log in with your username and password. When prompted, choose "Restore from Backup." Enter your recovery phrase. WeTalkin downloads and decrypts your backup locally. All messages, contacts, and settings transfer to your new device.
Confirm your messages and contacts are restored. Go to Settings > Linked Devices and remove your old phone if desired. Your old device will no longer receive messages after deauthorization.
