Step-by-Step Guide

How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication on WeTalkin

Two-factor authentication adds a critical security layer beyond your password. Even if someone obtains your password, they cannot access your account without the second factor from your authenticator app.

1

Open Security Settings

Go to Settings > Account > Two-Factor Authentication. This is where you enable and manage 2FA for your WeTalkin account.

2

Choose Your Authenticator App

You need a TOTP authenticator app. Google Authenticator, Authy, and Microsoft Authenticator are popular options. Download one if you do not already have it. Hardware security keys (YubiKey) are also supported for maximum security.

3

Scan the QR Code

WeTalkin displays a QR code. Scan it with your authenticator app. The app generates a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Enter the current code in WeTalkin to confirm setup.

4

Save Backup Codes

WeTalkin provides one-time backup codes for emergency access. Save these securely—print them and store in a safe place. If you lose access to your authenticator app, backup codes are your only way to regain account access.

5

Test and Confirm

Log out and log back in to test 2FA. After entering your password, you will be prompted for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Enter it to confirm everything is working. Your account is now protected with two-factor authentication.

Now you know how. Take the next step — download WeTalkin free.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I lose my authenticator device?

Use the backup codes you saved during setup. Each backup code works once. After using a backup code, set up 2FA again on a new authenticator device immediately. This is why saving backup codes securely is essential.

Is 2FA required on WeTalkin?

Two-factor authentication is optional but strongly recommended. It adds significant protection against account takeover. For accounts handling sensitive personal or business communication, 2FA should be considered essential.

Does 2FA protect my encrypted messages?

2FA protects account access—it prevents unauthorized login to your account. Your messages are already protected by end-to-end encryption. Together, 2FA and E2EE provide comprehensive protection for both your account and your communications.
